LM386 Audio Amplifier Circuit

IC LM386 is a low voltage Audio power amplifier device from texas instruments, It is most suitable for Audio system design and here we make prototype of LM386 Audio Amplifier Circuit with few external components.

Following circuit can be used for minimized public addressing Audio amplifier. The IC LM386 available in different 8 pin package. You can use pre-amplified audio signal as a input to this circuit.

Components Required

  1. IC LM386
  2. Condenser Mic
  3. 8Ω Speaker
  4. Variable Resistor 100KΩ
  5. Resistor 10KΩ = 2
  6. Capacitor 10μF/16V = 2, 100μF/16V
  7. Capacitor Disc 0.1μF, 0.01μF
  8. Battery 9V

Construction & Working

IC LM386 can take wide supply voltage Range from 5V to 18V and produce voltage gain from 20 to 200. It can be used as a Audio amplifier and small motor driver.

LM386 Pin Details

It has two input pin as Inverting and Non inverting input pins, and two Gain control pin. Two bias pins Vs, Gnd and one output pin Vout. LM386 has one bypass decoupling path pin.

In this Audio amplifier circuit audio Input signal taken from condenser mic and applied to Non Inverting pin through C1 Capacitor and VR1 variable Resistor, Here we can control the volume by varying VR1. Amplified audio signal is applied to the loud speaker through C5 capacitor.
