Resistor Programmable Temperature Switch

Last Updated on March 28, 2024

In some working system Temperature measurement can not be taken from one place and we need to measure different parts temperature at once for better decision making. For this type of temperature measurements we need compact standalone temperature sensor element. Hence we can design complete temperature sensing loop. Here TMP708 Resistor Programmable Temperature Switch from texas instruments taken for prototype.

The TMP708 is a fully integrated Resistor programmable temperature switch with a temperature threshold that is set by one external Resistor within the entire operating range. TMP708 provides active low output and operates with 2.7 V to 5.5 Volt.

TMP708 Comes in SOT-23, 5 pin package and it has ±0.5°C temperature threshold accuracy and quiescent current consumption is typically 40µA.

Construction & Working

TMP708 Requires only one Rset Resistor for setting temperature threshold and it has two temperature dependent voltage references and one comparator voltage reference exhibits a positive temperature coefficient and the other voltage reference exhibits a negative temperature coefficient. The temperature at which both voltage references are equal determines the temperature trip point.
