Nanopower quiescent current Voltage Regulator

Last Updated on March 16, 2024

A new jaw dropping device from Texas instrument (ti) released few weeks ago, TPS7A02 Nanopower quiescent current voltage regulator with ultra small package and low dropout. In this article let us focus on the features and applications of TPS7A02.

When we design portable, wearable or sensing IoT devices power consumption and power dropout Will be take important place to workout. Recent products in the market also released under these considerations. New product in a row from Texas Instrument TPS7A02 Claims nano quiescent current (25nA) and low dropout during operation.

TPS7A02

The TPS7A02 is an ultra-small, ultra-low quiescent current low-dropout linear regulator (LDO) that can source 200 mA. Quiescent current of this regulator is 25 nA and during shutdown it will be 3 nA. It provides excellent transient response from 1 mA to 50 mA and takes less than 10-µs settling time. This device available in three different packages and refer datasheet for more package infomation.

It can take input voltage from 1.5 V to 6 V and gives 0.8 V to 5.0 V as fixed output voltage range. It is easy to enable or disable this device by using single EN pin. It requires just two capacitors for its operation.

Due to its ultra small size and low power consumption and low dropout, it is well suitable for battery powered designs and wearable electronics, smart IoTs, portable medical devices and smart sensors.
