Acoustic-wave generator Circuit produce different types of sound waves by using various components like Resistor, Capacitor, Transistor and Waveform Generator ICs. Additionally this circuit should have control over frequency, Amplitude and wave shape. This Acoustic Wave Generator circuit can be used as testing signal generator circuit, Audio testing signal generator and Sound effect signal generator.
About ICL8038
ICL8038 is a precision waveform generator / voltage controlled oscillator, from Harris Semiconductor. It is capable of providing Sine, Square, and Triangle waveforms with minimum external components. The frequency of output signal can be tuned from 0.001 Hz to 300 KHz using external Resistor and Capacitor. It comes in 14 Pin DIP package.

Circuit Operation
Operation of this circuit is based on the external Timing Capacitor connected in pin 10 and sine wave Adjust Resistor Connected in pin 12. When the power supply applied to this circuit, Capacitor ‘C’ (4.7nF) is charged and discharged by the internal current sources (Upper, Lower) and Internal flip-flop makes Current source Lower ON and OFF, while Current source Upper is continuously gives input to flip-flop through internal comparator.
Output from the flip-flop (Square Pulse) shaped by timing capacitor, Buffer and sine converter brings different wave shape at the output.
